The Island of Albarella was conceived as a protected and private area where the key elements are the close contact to nature, to animals in the wild, peace and silence thus granting a completely relaxing break. Since the day the island was conceived, the entrance to it has always been limited through a barrier. Only people an entrance permit, can enter the island.
Over 2300 private owners have purchased real estates on the island. 30% of the island is property of the family MARCEGAGLIA who owns 300 holiday houses, villas and apartments, two hotels and all the sport and trade facilities on the island.

MARCEGAGLIA tourism, the tourist division of the Marcegaglia Group, manages directly the tenancy of holiday houses, villas and apartments. Additionally, it controls directly the two hotels, the marina, the Albarella Golf Club and all the activities the Centro Sportivo (Sport Centre) of the island offers.
Entering the island means entering a completely new world. It is a kind of oasis miles away from your everyday life.

The barrier to the island represents a threshold, beyond which life pace is completely different from the hectic lifestyle of the world outside. As a matter of fact our guests are encouraged to leave their cars on their private parking lots outside their houses and to use alternative means of transportation such as bikes, golf-cars, the local shuttle trains or whatever other transportation not producing atmospheric or acoustic pollution. At the same time the barrier prevents unwanted guests from entering the island thus making our resort a safe place to spend your holiday in.

The Community Secretary’s office is the authority representing the owners of Albarella. The Secretary’s office is the place every owner can turn to in order to ask for an entrance permission for his/her guests. Equally, an entrance permission will be given to all those people who choose the services of MARCEGAGLIA Tourism rent a villa, book hotel accommodation, use the Golf Club or the Marina facilities, eat in one of the island’s restaurants or bars. Those guests will be given an entrance permission as MARCEGAGLIA’s guests.
Albarella MARCEGAGLIA tourism manages the accommodation facilities scattered all over the island: villas, apartments and blocks of service flats. The accommodation capacity is 1500 beds. Additionally, some special villas with private swimming pools are available for the most demanding guests.
